Apple revealed several new smart home products, including a refreshed Apple TV 4K, on Tuesday.
The latest Apple TV 4K is the fourth iteration of Apple’s set-top box and emphasizes compatibility with the enhanced Siri AI, in line with Apple’s new home product strategy.
The new Apple TV 4K is powered by Siri AI, allowing users to interact with the AI assistant hands-free by speaking to their Apple TV 4K. The device can detect the user’s voice even when there is content playing on the TV screen.
Apple TV 4K’s upgraded Siri AI features will offer personalized suggestions, provide instant details about the content being viewed, and address queries like content suitability.
The latest Apple TV 4K runs on the A19 chipset, which is also used in the iPhone 17 and iPhone Air, delivering significantly improved CPU and GPU performance compared to its predecessor.
Siri AI can be accessed through voice commands, but the new Apple TV 4K includes a remote with additional features such as Find My, which helps users locate the remote by playing a sound.
Users now have the option to connect up to four HomePod mini 2 speakers or HomePod (2nd generation) speakers to the Apple TV 4K for a surround sound setup.
The new Apple TV 4K can be connected to other Apple smart home devices, allowing users to view visitors at their door or unlock it remotely if the device is linked to a compatible smart lock.
Other new features of the Apple TV include personalized iCloud photo streams, a fresh screen saver shuffle, and the ability to access FaceTime calls on the TV screen using the iPhone camera.
The latest Apple TV 4K will go on sale from November 13 for $299. Customers can pre-order it on the Apple Store website.
